house rules

The following are rules that are in place above & beyond the 4e ruleset. When the two ruleset are in conflict this set wins.

  • For each 5 minutes your late for a gaming session your character takes a -2 on initiative
  • A critical miss (roll of a 1) on an attack roll has the following possible consequences:
    1. You hit your nearest ally instead
    2. You hit yourself instead
    3. You hit the nearest NPC instead
    4. You overshoot the target. Nothing happens.
    5. You overshoot the target. Nothing happens.
    6. You hit the ground in front of the target kicking up dust blinding your target instead
  • When a minion scores a critical hit in addition to the damage one of the following happens:
    1. The minion excited about its success runs off to tell his boss, provoking an opportunity attack.
    2. After the blow the minion is so excited about his blow he raises his arms in the air, dropping his weapon, and jumps up and down.
    3. The minion inspired by his own success takes another standard action.
    4. You take extra damage equal to the minion’s level
    5. You take extra damage equal to 2 times the minion’s level
    6. He inspires all his fellow minions within line of sight to take another standard action.
  • Prone – Standing up from prone provokes opportunity attacks from adjacent enemies.
  • Death – Your spirit travels to the underworld. The journey back to life via a raise dead ritual causes you to lose XP. Your XP resets to half the value of your previous level. Your party can rescue your spirit instead, but they must travel to Plane Below, fight their way through to your spirit in order to rejoin your body with your soul.
  • Missing Sessions – For each session a character misses roll a d20
    • 1 – you died no XP no GP
    • 2-10 – you gained the level as normal
    • 11-15 – you gained the level as normal and 100 x level in GP.
    • 16-18 – you gained the level as normal and 200 x level in GP.
    • 19 – you gained the level as normal, 200 x level in GP + a magic item of your level or lower
    • 20 – you gained the level as normal, 200 x level in GP + a magic item of your level + 4 or lower
